Gunmen were on Monday reported to have killed the foster father of the spokesman of Boko Haram, Abu Qaqa, who is reportedly being held by the State Security Service.
Qaqa’s foster father, Abdullahi Bello, who is a retired prison warder, was killed alongside another of his retired colleague from the Nigeria Prison Service, in Maiduguri, Borno State, as they were preparing for evening prayers.
The shooting was said to have been carried out at about 6:30om.
Qaqa was reportedly arrested by the SSS in February.
But the dreaded sect has disputed the claims, saying it was another person that was arrested.
However, with the killing of Bello, there is a suspicion that the sect killed Bello as a warning to Qaqa not to reveal too much to the SSS during interrogation.
