Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak of Kwara has approved the appointment of Dr Shehu Jawondo as the new acting Provost of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
The Governing Council Chairman of the institution, Elder Reuben Iye, disclosed this while addressing newsmen Tuesday in Ilorin, the State capital.
Iye said that Jawondo’s appointment was with immediate effect.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jawondo, until his appointment, was the Deputy Director, Directorate of Under-graduate Studies and former Dean, School of Languages, Department of Arabic Studies at the college.
In his reaction, the immediate past acting provost, Dr Jimoh Ayinla, expressed satisfaction with the development, stressing that the position was supposed to be held for three months, but that he held it for 20 months.
“I sincerely thank Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazak for the opportunity given to me to serve the college.
“I also thank members of the institution’s management who had worked with me in the last 20 months. I also commend members of staff and the students for their cooperation.
“I want to assure the people of the state that I will be readily available when next my services are needed.
“My brother, Dr Jawondo, who has just appointed as the new acting provost is hereby assured of my full support,” he said.
