Former NFA board member Ojidoh dies at 87

Renowned football administrator and former board member of the Nigeria Football Association, Chief John Ojidoh, is dead, a family member confirmed on Tuesday.
His daughter, Helen Inije, told the News Agency of Nigeria in a telephone interview that Ojidoh died on February 3.
She said the widely-respected administrator died in his home town of Illah in Delta State at the age of 87.
Inije said: “He was not ill.
“He sent somebody to buy for him some litres of petrol for the power generating set and when the messenger returned, he ordered for food, which was given to him.
“After eating the food, he sent for his wife (my mother) and as she came close she met him facing the wall without saying a word.
“My mother now raised an alarm that my father was motionless.”
Inije spoke from the US, where she said she arrived at on Sunday for medical treatment.
She said a neighbour, who was with her mother at that time, went into the room and discovered that Ojidoh was dead.
Inije told NAN that the body of the father had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre morgue in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
On burial arrangements, she said she would only be able to say something on that after she would have returned to Nigeria on February 7.
NAN recalls that Ojidoh was the Chairman of the Football Association in the Old Bendel State and was also at various times coach and referee in football and athletics.
