Swansea City have confirmed they have parted company with their manager, Michael Laudrup.
The former Barcelona and Real Madrid star, who joined the club at the start of last season, leaves the club in 12th place, just two points above the relegation zone.
The 49-year-old masterminded the Swans’ Capital One Cup triumph last year, the first major trophy in the club’s history, and has seen them progress to the knockout phase of the Europa League this season, but his side have slumped to six defeats in the last eight league games.
Laudrup’s final game in charge was Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers, West Ham, and, despite appearing to back his manager, chairman Huw Jenkins made the decision to relieve the Dane of his duties.
Former Swansea captain, Garry Monk, has been placed in caretaker charge at the Liberty Stadium.
