A former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, on Tuesday emerged as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The development was unfolded to newsmen by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, according to reports.
Metuh said all organs of the party, including the national caucus, the PDP Governors’ Forum and the National Assembly caucuses have agreed to have Sheriff serve as national chairman.
He said the decision would be communicated to the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Committee for ratification.
He said it is after this a formal announcement would be made.
The PDP national caucuses had met all night in Abuja over the issue.
It came up with seven names, including that of a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, for the position.
