Members of the Ekiti House of Assembly on Wednesday visited some parts of the state to ascertain the level of damage done to private and government utilities by hoodlums following the #EndSARS protests.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the inspection team was led by the Speaker of the house, Funminiyi Afuye.
Afuye expressed dissatisfaction with activities of the hoodlums and urged residents and the youths to sheathe their sword to allow peace to reign.
This, he said, will also give government the chance to attend to their demands in due course.
Although he acknowledged the right of the citizens to protest, the speaker, however, condemned the unwarranted destruction of property.
NAN reports that the team took note of police stations set ablaze, carcasses of vehicles burnt and looted offices in both Ikere-Ekiti and Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The team also visited the seed silos plant situated along the Federal Polytechnic Road, Ado-Ekiti, and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in Adehun, Adebayo Area of the state capital.
At the textile warehouse at Awedele, the speaker sympathised with traders whose wares were looted by hoodlums, disguising as protesters.
Afuye thereafter appealed to victims of the destroyed and looted properties to exercise patience, saying that the government has set up a judicial commission of inquiry to look into all aspects of the protests in the state.
NAN reports that the speaker was accompanied by his deputy, Hakeem Jamiu, the Leader of the Business Committee, Gboyega Aribisogan and members of the House Committee on Security, chaired by Lateef Akanle.
