The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Tuesday advised Nigerians not to engage in panic buying and hoarding of petrol following the report aht the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers is set to embark on a nationwide strike from Wednesday.
NUPENG had said in a statement on Sunday that it was giving the Federal Government 72 hours to intervene in the loan issue a member of the union, the Jetty and Petroleum Tank Farm Owners of Nigeria, was having with some banks on the country.
NNPC, however, said, there is no cause for alarm.
In a statement by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, NNPC said: “I want to assure everybody that there is no need to scramble for petroleum products as we have enough to go round.
“The government has opened a communication channel with NUPENG and they have since put the pending strike action in the cooler to allow for more positive engagement with government.”
