Nigeria Premier League sides, Sharks FC and Dolphins, on Monday embarked on an indefinite strike action to press home demand for their unpaid sign-on fees.
Players of both clubs, according to our source, failed to turn up for training sessions and are not willing to return to the pitch until their demands are met.
The players held an emergency meeting and it was agreed that they will stage a peaceful protest to the Governor’s Office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Tuesday.
Sharks, against all odds, defeated Nigeria Premier League defending champions and league leaders, Kano Pillars, by a lone goal in Port Harcourt on Sunday and are to keep a date with Giwa FC on Thursday.
The Blue Angels are now seventh on the log, while their city rivals, Dolphins, are sixth with 48 points.
This latest development could also jeopardise Dolphins preparations for the Federations Cup final against Enyimba.
The date for the fixture is yet to be announced.
It was however gathered that the players are owed sign-on fees for two seasons and backlogs of unpaid salaries.
