A Kogi State High Court has ordered that the representative of Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, be remanded at the National Hospital, Abuja.
The order followed a written bail application filed by Melaye’s counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), asking for a variation of the remand order placed on him.
Melaye was on Thursday refused bail by a Senior Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lokoja over a seven-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and illegal possession of fire arms.
The court ordered his remand for 38 days at the Police Medical Centre in Lkoja.
In granting the varied remand conditions on Friday, the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nadir Ajanah, said in view of the critical health conditions as espoused by Ozekhome, Melaye should be moved to the National Hospital, Abuja for proper medical attention.
Ajanah then adjourned till May 7 for continuation of hearing.
