The Delta State House of Assembly has confirmed seven nominees as chairman and members of the State House of Assembly Service Commission.
The names of the nominees were earlier sent in a letter to the Assembly by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for screening and confirmation.
The confirmation, on Wednesday in Asaba followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Tim Owhefere, after the successful screening of the nominees at the plenary session.
The session was presided over by the Speaker, Chief Monday Igbuya.
The motion, which was unanimously adopted by the House, was seconded by Johnson Erico, the lawmaker representing Isoko South II Constituency.
Okowa had in a letter to the Assembly said the appointments was in exercise of the powers conferred on him as governor of the state by Section 4, Sub-section 3 of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission Law 1999.
Those screened and had their appointments confirmed included Josephine Kachikwu as Chairman, Sunday Ebireri, Christian Iteire, Cordelia Anyangwu, Monday Ishiekwene, Richard Ofenor and Oyazimo Ebiakpor as members.
The chairman and two others, Christian Iteire and Cordelia Anyangwu, were former board members of the commission while the remaining four are fresh appointees.
Meanwhile, the House adopted the report of its Committee on Water Resources for the ratification of the Warri-Effurun Water Scheme Concession Agreement.
The adoption of the report followed a report which was earlier presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Water Resources, Samuel Mariere.
Meanwhile, the House differed on the second reading of the Delta State Water Bill and the Delta State Special Offenses Court Bill.
Also differed by the House, was the submission of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the 2017 Delta State Appropriation Bill.
