A Non-Government Organization, Incorporated Trustees of the Egalitarian Mission for Africa, has demanded for the observance of due process and accountability from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in its distribution of stimulus packages to the indigent and vulnerable citizens in some targeted areas of the country occasioned by the lockdown following the spread of Coronavirus Disease.
It would be recalled that March 29, 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari in his Address to the Nation had reeled out measures to be followed after he ordered the lockdown of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and Lagos and Ogun States.
Sequel to the development, Buhari ordered distribution of relief materials to residents of satellite towns and communities to ease their pains in the coming week.
In its letter to the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, through its Lawyer, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, the group urged the Minister to observe due diligence in ensuring successful disbursement of the stimulus packages to the affected citizens.
The group, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, demanded for information relating to the receipt or expenditure of public funds (stimulus packages) disbursed by the Ministry.
