The Lagos State Police Command has directed that an autopsy be conducted on the body of the late Mrs. Dupe Ikharia, who was allegedly killed by complications resulting from injuries she received after her angry police husband ran over her with a commercial bus and killed their little son, David, over a N2,000 dispute.
Police spokesman in Lagos State, Kenneth Nwosu, said: “Our stand is that the law is no respecter of any person.
“And whoever disobeys the law, will face its consequences.
“We are in touch with Corporal Lucky Ikharia’s deceased wife’s family.
“We have also directed them to liaise with the State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, so that an autopsy could be done.
“We heard that the woman was treated at a healing home before she died.”
On the whereabouts of Lucky and the police’s seeming slow response to the case, Nwosu stated that Lucky had been arrested and detained at the SCID.
According to him, a team of investigating officers has been constituted to do justice to the matter.
He said: “We have to determine the condition under which the action was taken.
“If the family or any person wants to get the right information, it won’t be at where he works.”
Meanwhile, Dupe’s younger brother confirmed that Police authorities had stepped into the matter.
He said: “I’m just leaving the PPRO’s Office.
“They have assured us that they would speed up their investigation on the matter.
“However, we have been directed by the police to go to SCID for an autopsy.”
