Containers to land at Ntigha Dry Port in December 2017 — Shippers Council

An official of the Nigeria Shippers’ Council, Christian Chimezie, has said that containers would land at the Ntigha Dry Port in Isiala Ngwa North, Abia State by December 2017.
Chimezie, the zonal coordinator of the council, said the committee inaugurated by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State was working hard to realise the target date for the delivery of the port.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria in Aba, Abia State that the government was committed to realising the port to boost business transactions in the South East and decongest Onne Port.
He said: “The issue of the Ntigha Dry Port is making a tremendous progress.
“Right now the committee has been working since the 25th of January 2016 when the Abia governor inaugurated a new committee to take charge.
“The level we have reached now is that the concessionaire has secured funds to build the facility.”
Chimezie said that the company was only awaiting the final approval from the Abia State Government to get going.
“The target of the committee is that by December 2017, the first container will drop at the Ntigha Dry Port,” he said.
Ikpeazu had in January 2016 inaugurated the Ntigha Dry Port Implementation Committee to ensure its realisation.
