Two-time champions, Enyimba FC of Aba, have been dumped out of this year’s edition of the African Champions League by AS Real of Bamako.
The People’s Elephant won the second leg by a lone goal in Bamako, Mali on Saturday but they were ousted on away goal rules as it ended 2-2 on aggregate.
The Malians last week shocked the Aba Millionaires by 2-1 scoreline at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.
Before now, Enyimba won the best team in Africa award while Coach Kadiri Ikhana emerged as the best coach in 2003.
The feat was also repeated in 2004 when the club retained the best coach award while the club’s first choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, won the Champions league player of the year.
The club also won the CAF Super Cup to bring Enyimba to the limelight on the continent.
