Buhari too old to be president – Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has again said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, at 72 is too old and sick to be elected the president of the country.

In a statement entitled: “Nigerians be warned,” and signed by him, Fayose therefore advised Nigerians to learn from the past and avoid repeating previous mistakes.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, in a statement made available to the press in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, ‎the governor said the matter before Nigerians was choosing between life and death and urged them to choose life and quoted from the book of Deuteronomy 30 verse 19: “Therefore, choose life that both thee and thy seed may live.”

He recalled that General Murtala Muhammed, General Sani Abacha and Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua all died in office as Nigerian leaders.

Incidentally, all of them hailed from the North West geopolitical zone like Buhari, saying Nigerians do not want state burial again.

He charged Nigerians to vote wisely by returning President Goodluck Jonathan to office and that the North should wait till 2019 when it would be able to produce a credible, healthy, vibrant and energetic‎ leader.

Fayose berated the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, for saying that the Lagos State Peoples Demo‎cratic Party governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje, at 57 was too old to rule the state.

Fayose asked: “What can we say of Buhari at 72 an old horse whose Fashola’s party has put‎ forward to govern Nigeria?

“Where will Buhari find the energy‎?”

He added in the statement: “This implies that the sponsors of Buhari want Nigeria to return to the days of Umaru Yar’Adua, which later produce Jonathan.”
