Buhari campaign group sensitises voters in North-east

The Buhari Campaign Organisation on Thursday said it had embarked on activities in the North-East to drum up support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid.
The North-East Coordinator of the organisation, Alhaji Kabir Abiso, stated this in Maiduguri on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
He said that the organisation had extended its outreach to rural communities to mobilise support for President Buhari in the February 16 election.
Abiso disclosed that the exercise was also designed to canvass support for other candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming general elections.
He said: “The sensitisation exercise is aimed at mobilizing  participation in the ongoing Permanent Voter Cards distribution exercise, and also create awareness to ensure proper balloting and check cases of invalid votes.
“We are educating the electorate on the need to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid acts capable of disrupting the smooth conduct of the election.”
Abiso called on youths and women to vote for Buhari for the second time to enable him continue with the good work of moving the country forward.
He noted that the Buhari Administration had recorded successes in the fight against insurgency, restoration of peace to the war-tone region, reinvigorate of agriculture, anti-graft war, as well as creation of employment opportunities.
The coordinator said that people in Borno would reciprocate the love and goodwill of the President by voting for him in the election.
Abiso further called on Nigerians to ignore former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, over his criticisms of the Buhari Administration, noting that such criticisms were not in good faith.
He added: “Nigerians should not allow themselves to be hood winked with baseless criticisms; we should remain focused and vote for the right candidate to lead the country to greater height.”
