A 25-year-old bricklayer, Lot Bernard, was on Monday docked in an Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, for allegedly stealing his neighbour’s iPad, gas cylinder and dry pressing iron.
The police charged Bernard who resides in Bassa village airport road, Abuja with trespass, house breaking and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Esther Sunday of same address invited the defendant to do some work in her house.
Tanko said that the defendant with one other, on June 14 broke into the complainant’s apartment and stole a gas cylinder, iPad, electric pressing iron and cash of N250.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 343, 346 and 288 of the Penal Code.
he defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Judge Sani Umar, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
Umar said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide two recent passport photograph.
He said that if the defendant failed to meet the bail conditions, he should be remanded in Nigerian Correctional Centre in Suleja, Niger State.
The judge adjourned the case until Aug. 29 for hearing.
