President Donald Trump of the United States of America on Tuesday sacked his Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
Trump announced the sack of Tillerson, a day after his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria in Abuja, via his Twitter handle.
Trump immediately announced Tillerson’s replacement with the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Mike Pompeo.
Trump thanked Tillerson for his service, adding that Pompeo would do “a fantastic job”.
Tillerson was a former Chief Executive of ExxonMobil.
He was appointed Secretary of State just over a year ago.
