The Benue State House of Assembly on Friday elected Terkimbi Ikyange as the Speaker of the 8th Assembly.
Ikyange (APC-Ushongo) polled 17 votes to defeat Terkaa Ucha, (PDP-Tiev), who scored 13 votes.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 30-member House consists of 14 members elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, 15 for the Peoples Democratic Party and one for Labour Party.
Also, James Ejembi (PDP-Okpokwu) emerged Deputy Speaker with 16 votes against Joseph Ojobo (PDP-Ogbadibo), who polled 14 votes.
The principal officers promised to serve with utmost humility and with the fear of God.
