Banjo, Fayemi condole Fashola over father’s death

Ogbeni Lanre Banjo, the National Conscience Party gubernatorial
candidate in Ogun State, has conveyed his sincere condolences to the
people of Lagos State; the state Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola; and the family members of Papa Ibrahim Ademola Fashola over the death of the father of the governor.
Banjo, in a statement on Tuesday, said: “That Papa lived to be 80,
watched one of his children to be the governor of the State of
Excellence, watched his son arrest military officers on the streets of Lagos, and most of all was blessed with children and grandchildren
calls for celebration of life.
“We should thank the Almighty Allah for Papa’s accomplished life and
for his successful ability to inculcate discipline in the life of his
children, especially Babatunde Raji, whom Lagos and by extension
Nigeria is very proud of. May God grant Papa peaceful and eternal rest from his sweat in this wicked life, especially the life lived both under NEPA and now PHCN with epileptic electricity. Though no one wants his or her beloved ones to depart this life, that Papa’s life was not consumed by the death trap roads in Nigeria should be a source of joy to all and sundry.
“To my brother governor, Babatunde, yours should be everlasting
gratitude to God that Papa lived long to see you sworn in twice as
governor of Lagos State, and watched you use your destined glory in
his life. Watching you on televsion and making Lagos to be a proud
state was a source of eternal joy to him. May his prayers for you be
granted by Almighty Allah! May his spirit continue to guide and
protect you! Odun a jina sira o.”
The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has also commiserated
with Fashola on the death of his father, Alhaji Ademola Fashola.
Governor Fayemi, in his condolence message, signed by his Chief Press
Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, said the late Alhaji Fashola’s death
marked a glorious end to a life well spent in the service of Allah and humanity.
He described the deceased as a devout Muslim, community leader and a
philanthropist who dedicated his life to the good of others and the
development of his community.
Fayemi noted that the late Alhaji Fashola, whom he described as a
detribalized Nigerian, lived a fulfilled life and was exemplary in his deeds both in public and in private.
The governor pointed out that the deceased left worthy legacies of
hard work, love, good neighbourliness, generosity and piety for his
children and other family members.
Fayemi said although Governor Fashola will definitely feel the pain of
losing his father, he urged him to be consoled by the fact that the
deceased lived a fulfilled life and departed at a ripe old age.
He said: “On behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State, I commiserate with my friend and brother governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), on the peaceful transition of his father, Alhaji Ademola Fashola.
“I also commiserate with the Fashola family and the Lagos State
government. I pray God to grant them the fortitude to bear this loss.”
