The report of the autopsy carried out on a 19-month-old pupil of Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School, Asaba, Delta State, Obinna Udeze, is out.
This development was confirmed by the spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, on Tuesday in Asaba.
The mother of the deceased, Gift Ohanezeze, had earlier reported that Udeze did not recover after he was given 31 strokes of the cane by his teacher in school.
Ohanezeze said her baby was tied like a goat while being beaten by the teacher.
Speaking on the outcome of the autopsy, Edafe said the report showed that Udeze died of septic shock.
He said the autopsy was conducted at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba.
He said: “The autopsy report indicates septic shock as the cause of death.
“That is what I can say, for now.
“Let the medical doctors and lawyers interpret what that means.”
