The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has described the invasion of the residence of the immediate past Commissioner for Information in the state, Ibim Semenitari, as “unlawful and illegal”.
A statement issued on Friday in Port Harcourt by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, claimed that Governor Nyesom Wike was harassing supporters of former Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
The statement alleged that armed policemen had on Thursday invaded the residence of Semenitari and confiscated the ex-commissioner’s Lexus SUV, which she acquired through government’s monetisation policy.
“In the process of the forceful entry and confiscation of the vehicle, they caused extensive damage to the property and another SUV in the premises,” it stated.
Semenitari, in an interview with newsmen, had claimed that Wike was bent on destroying the reputation of Amaechi and his government.
She said: “A simple letter from any government official requesting me to make a submission or tender documentation would have been the appropriate way to go, as I would have willingly tendered all the relevant documents to them.
“Breaking into my home, invading my privacy, damaging my property and removing property from my premises is inappropriate and illegal.”
