Nigerian striker, Victor Anichebe, has expressed his readiness to move to Premier League strugglers, West Bromwich Albion, during the winter transfer window.
The forward told WBA new boss, Pepe Mel: “I’m ready to solve your striker shortage.’’
With Nicolas Anelka facing suspension by the Football Association, the Nigerian ace will soon be Albion’s most experienced Premier League striker.
“I need to step up,” he said.
“But everyone does. It’s the same with any team, you always need goals.
“If he (Anelka) is out, we’ve got a lot of good players here.
“If we all play, we will come in and give it our all and that’s all people can ask.
“I don’t really pay attention to anything in the media or anything external. I just concentrate on coming into training and working hard and trying to stay fit.”
Anichebe has started just five games since his big-money move from Everton in the summer.
And the 25-year-old has only found the net once against Manchester City in December.
When fit, the big man is a handful as he proved against Manchester United earlier this term, and showed in glimpses on Monday night.
“We need everyone to pull together now,” he added.
The Baggies forward featured for the first time in a month against former club, Everton, on Monday.
