Amosun's wife wants more roles for Girls Guide association

Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, has advocated more roles for the Nigerian Girls Guide Association, describing the association as a change agent that should be supported by all and sundry.
According to her: “As a voluntary organisation open to all girls, young women and adults regardless of their religious, ethnic, linguistic and political affiliations, the Nigerian Girls Guide Association has become a very important environment to promote positive values in our girls, by encouraging them to be their best and providing them opportunities to make a difference in their human endeavours.

“It has also become an avenue, with a global feast for our girls, to grow by trying new things, develop positive self-esteem in them and become well-rounded individuals. This will help them to make new friends, display model leadership and initiative and contribute their quota towards community development.”
Speaking during the association’s Second Zonal Executive Committee Meeting and her investiture ceremony as the Ogun State Patron of the Nigerian Girls Guide Association, Amosun challenged the association to partner with the present leadership in the state in “contributing their quota in rebuilding the state.”
In her remarks, the Ogun State Commissioner of the Nigerian Girls Guide Association, Mrs. Kehinde Olabisi Oke, expressed gratitude to the Ogun State Government “for returning voluntary organisations back to schools in the state, especially Boys Scout and Girls Guide.”
Delivering a keynote address on the theme: “Together We Can Save Our Planet,” Mrs. O. O. Akinwunmi said Nigerians should desist from engaging in activities that can contribute to the depletion of ozone layers.
“We should be ready to take responsibility for our actions as changes in our climate are becoming more crucial day by day. If each of us is determined and committed to start with small steps, together we can make a huge difference. Taking care of earth is no longer an option, it is a necessity,” she said.
