Hull City boss, Steve Bruce, has ruled out the prospect of cashing in on Nigerian striker, Sone Aluko, during the January transfer window even if the player fails to agree a new contract.
Having turned down what was described as a “fabulous offer” from the Tigers earlier this month, the long-term future of Aluko remains up in the air as he approaches the end of his existing deal.
Although the issue has been further complicated by an Achilles injury, ruling the 24-year-old out until February, that has not stopped reports linking the striker with a move away from the KC Stadium in the New Year.
Crystal Palace were touted as a possible suitor in January as City become increasingly vulnerable to losing Aluko on a free transfer next summer, but Bruce has dismissed all talk of the player leaving before the season is out.
“I’m still hopeful that we can do something,” said Bruce.
