Enugu Rangers Football Club on Wednesday in Kano beat Akwa United 4-2 through penalty shootout at the Sani Abacha Stadium to reach semi-finals in the ongoing 2018 AITEO Cup.
Igbe Michael opened scoring for the Aiteo Cup holders in the first half and Rangers Captain, Okey Odita, equalised for his side in the second half.
Both teams missed scoring chances but Rangers carried the day in spite of the superlative performance of Akwa United.
Rangers coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, who expressed happiness over his team’s qualification for the semi-finals, commended the players for their fighting spirit.
Ogunbote also thanked Kano fans for supporting his team during the encounter.
