Adeseun indicates interest in Oyo governorship poll

Senator Ayo Adeseun on Monday in Ibadan indicated his intention to contest the 2015 governorship election in Oyo State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Adeseun, who spoke to newsmen at his Ibadan home, said he would officially declare his intention to contest the position on August 19 at a rally.
He said: “I will be declaring my intention to run for the post of governor in Oyo State as the preparation for the 2015 elections hots up.
“I am offering my services to the people of Oyo State as governorship aspirant and on August 19, 2014, I will be officially welcomed back to PDP at a rally to be organised by party members.”
Adeseun, who represents Oyo Central Senatorial District, recently defected from the All Progressives Congress to the PDP.
Adeseun, who said he was contesting to end what he called the misrule of the APC led-administration in the state, added: “I regret playing a role in the process that led to the emergence of Abiola Ajimobi as governor and one who demolished peoples’ houses without compensation and also impoverished them.
“The situation of market women, commercial motorcyclists and civil servants in the state today is deplorable.
“If you ask them if the quality of life they are living today is satisfactory to them, they will tell you no.”
Adeseun also denied a report that he was part of an earlier resolution in Ogbomoso that asked a former Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala, to run as the PDP flag bearer.
“Since the constitution of Nigeria allows freedom of contest, I will seek the ticket to run for the position by contesting the party’s primaries,” he said.
Adeseun, however, promised to support any candidate who emerges, saying this would promote democratic tenets.
