The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, is angry that despite several directives on anti-crime activities, there are reports of increasing trend of kidnapping and violent crimes in the Zone 6 Police Command.
Arase has, therefore, issued stern warning to police officers and men in the zone to stem the increasing crime rate.
The Zone 6 Police Command is made up of Cross-River, Rivers, Ebonyi and Akwa-Ibom States.
Arase said all hands must be on deck to stem the tide.
He has therefore placed embargo on all forms of leave, either casual or annual, for officers and men in the Zone.
A statement on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, said further: “The Police High Command equally reaffirmed its commitment at leaving no stone unturned to ensure that peace prevails and people go about their lawful businesses in all parts of the country.
“Members of the public are further enjoined to continue to collaborate with the Police by reporting any suspicious person or criminal element at the nearest Police Station for prompt action.”
