A member of House of Representatives, Hon Bamidele Faparusi, has described the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the February 14 general election, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, as the best candidate that can salvage the country from misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The lawmaker, representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, also described the 16 years the PDP has been in power at the federal level as “years of sorrow and anguish”, urging the electorate to vote out the party.
He described Buhari as a disciplined leader who will galvanise the economy of the country for better use.
Speaking on Tuesday in Ode Ekiti while presenting scholarship and bursary awards worth N5 million to 520 students in his constituency as part of his empowerment programmes, Faparusi said the dwindling fortunes of education in the county and the level of unemployment were becoming worrisome.
He said this makes it imperative for the students, as critical stakeholders, to vote for a man that could effect a positive change.
Describing the youths as important stakeholders in any nation, Faparusi said nothing is too big to be invested in the education sector in order to secure the country’s future.
He urged the students, drawn from all the tertiary institutions across the country, to shun sentiments during the coming election, saying Buhari remained the best presidential candidate that could salvage the country from the misrule of the PDP-led government.
He added: “You have to vote to secure your future in the next presidential poll.
“It is a choice between a gloomy and bright future and you have to choose one.
“Buhari has ruled the country before and his records can speak for him.
“No student can be proud of the 16 years of PDP’s misrule in this country.
“These years have been years of sorrow and anguish as manifested in the level of insurgency in the North, youth unemployment, oil theft, high tech corruption and political violence.
“Your parents may be in PDP, but your parents are neither President Goodluck Jonathan nor Governor Ayodele Fayose.
“So, I implore you to apply wisdom and the best way to do this is by voting for the right person that can secure your future and that is General Buhari.”
Faparusi , who is seeking a second term, exuded confidence that his track records and the strong tie he has with the masses would sway victory for him in the forthcoming election.
He assured the students that he would increase the scholarship and bursary awards if given the second term mandate.
