No fewer than 11 persons were again feared killed on Thursday in Rivers State.
This is coming on the heels of the New Year day killing of 21 persons in Omoku, Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area.
According to available information, the killing of the 11 persons was as a result of the spread of the violence in Omoku to neighbouring communities.
Four of those killed on Thursday died near Ahaoda.
They were believed to be the masterminds of the Omoku incident.
Information available said the four suspects were gunned down and one apprehended by men of the Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area Security, Peace and Advisory Committee, the local vigilante of the area, in a gun battle.
In Egbeda, Emohua Local Government Area, gunmen reportedly shot dead seven persons, including a woman and a lawyer.
The hooded gunmen were said to have arrived on motorcycles.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, said on the development: “I can confirm that an incident did happen at Emohua community.
“Gunmen came on motorcycles, opened fire on people and ran off as fast as they came.
“One person was killed.”
