YPP to APC: Snap out of false illusion Buhari still controls 12m votes

The Young Progressive Party has called on the All Progressives Congress to snap out of the false illusion that President Muhammadu Buhari still controls 12 million votes, saying the conditions precedent before the 2015 presidential election have all changed.
The party stated this at a news conference addressed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Egbeola Wale Martins, in Abuja.
Martins also said the party has fixed September 8 for the party’s presidential primaries at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, while emphasizing that neither the Peoples Democratic Party nor APC are options for Nigerians, as both are responsible for the nation’s socio-economic and political woes.
The Young Progressive Party after her 6th National Executive Committee meeting held on August 18, 2018 resolved among other things that the inaugural convention of the party will be held on September 8, 2018 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, while the time table for the conduct of primaries of the party, starting with the presidential primaries, was released on Monday.
The party through its spokesperson also encouraged all aspirants seeking elective positions on the platform of the party to go and purchase their nomination forms with the expression of interest form declared to be free.
Martins also assured all aspirants of an independent transparent process anchored on the principles of option A4 in line with Article 28.1 of the YPP constitution.
In condemning the recent onslaught on the legislature, Martins said: “We strongly condemn the ongoing clamp down on two critical pillars of democracy, the legislature and press, by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration as evidenced in the recent siege on the National Assembly and unlawful detention of journalists in addition to other undemocratic actions such as the incessant brazen disregard for court orders that have characterized the APC-led government since coming to power over three and half years ago.”
Martins however commended the swift action of the government in sacking the erstwhile Director General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Daura, but questioned the sincerity of the action, which he claimed to be a face saving exercise in response to local and international condemnation of what he called shameful display of executive rascality.
The only way, according to him, that justice can be seen as being done is for all those behind the disgraceful act to be unraveled by an independent investigative panel because his party is convinced that the former DG of the DSS could not have acted in isolation and all those found culpable should be prosecuted in line with extant laws on terrorism and treason.
Martins admonished the APC government to snap out of the false illusion that the circumstances precedent before the 2015 elections are still very much in place after they have reneged in almost all their electoral promises.
