Woman gives birth to baby girl after arrest with marijuana

The Seme Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service has arrested a woman
who gave birth to a baby girl shortly after being apprehended for
being in possession of weeds suspected to be marijuana.
Also arrested was a man who was the driver of the vehicle in which the pregnant woman was travelling.
The Comptroller of the Command, Salleh Otham, who made this known to
the News Agency of Nigeria in Badagry, Lagos State on Wednesday, noted that the arrests were made at Ashipa area in Seme.
Otham said the weeds weighed 3.5kg.
According to him, on June 17, a Nissan Sunny car was intercepted by
Customs officers at Ashipa area of Badagry with ’16 blocks of
marijuana’, popularly known as Indian hemp.
He added: “We were able to make this arrest due to intelligence report
that we got.
“The woman, who was pregnant at the time, was later delivered of a
baby girl, shortly after the arrest.
“She is being treated at the General Hospital, Badagry.”
The comptroller said the marijuana had since been handed over to the
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigations.
