The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has urged members of the party to close ranks to enable them to clinch victory in 2015 general elections.
Wike made the call in Port Harcourt on Monday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
He expressed optimism that in unity, the party members would defeat their All Progressives Congress opponents in next year’s elections.
He said: “Rivers is and has been a PDP state.
“This is what we must bear in mind and this is why my colleagues in the primaries need to support me.
“With them, we can take back what rightfully belongs to PDP.
“This is what we must work towards with one mind.”
The PDP flag-bearer urged all stakeholders in the party to move for justice and internal democracy which, he said, PDP represented.
He described PDP as the only political party that could proffer solution to the yearnings and aspirations of the Rivers people.
According to him, economic prosperity and job creation are the major driving interests of the PDP.
Wike urge Rivers State people not be distracted by APC, saying that PDP had much to offer to them.
He explained that continuity was necessary for sustainable development and urged people in the state to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan.
