Uduaghan deserves a chieftaincy title, says Asagba of Asaba

The Asagba of Asaba Obi, Professor Chike Edozien has recommended that Dr. Emmanuel  Uduaghan be conferred with a Chieftaincy title by the Asagba in council as part of the community’s determination to honour and show appreciation for the giant developmental strides recorded in Asaba in particular and Delta State in general.

Obi Professor Edozien made the recommendation in Asaba during this year’s annual Iwa-Iji otherwise known as New Yam festival, held at his palace.

The Asagba said Dr. Uduaghan had brought rapid and sustained development to the Asaba community especially the building of an international airport which has seen the city’s economic profile rising tremendously in the past years.

The Asagba however decried the issue of land saying since Asaba was made the State Capital, the Community’s land had diminished rapidly while revealing that no land belonged to an individual but the community and called on the people to desist from incessant sale of the community’s land.

He said this year’s festival was to thank God for bountiful harvest in Asaba community, adding that the community has enjoyed peace and tranquility as well as economic development.

A former Permanent secretary in the state civil service, Sir Anthony Obuh who was a guest at the festival commended the people of Asaba for allowing peace to reign in the community which had engendered development and growth stressing that the festival was to celebrate God’s blessing on the community therefore they must remain steadfast in giving God thanks.

Sir Obuh said having served the state as a civil servant he was ready to attain a higher office in a bid to add value to the state.

He said he has had tremendous experience serving as a Civil servant and believed he was eminently qualified to seek a higher office in Delta State with the aim of strengthening the achievements of past administrations as he hopes to chart a new path for the state’s greatness.

Sir Obuh later held a closed door meeting with some Delta North traditional rulers who were present at the occasion.
