TRACE vows to prosecute reckless drivers

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency has vowed that reckless drivers and other offenders will henceforth be made to face the full weight of the law.
The Corps’ Commander, Seni Ogunyemi, said this in an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
He reiterated the need for motorists to always consider the safety of pedestrians and other road users plying the road.
Ogunyemi said that more punitive measures would be taken against offenders to check loss of lives and property.
He warned commercial drivers against the illusion that some mystical powers could fortify them against accidents.
He said: “All road users, be it pedestrians, cyclists, motorcycle riders and drivers, must think safety first, whether on inter or intra-transit trips.
‘‘If every individual that uses the road could cultivate good safety culture and always consider other road users, the road would be a lot safer for all.’’
Ogunyemi advised drivers and pedestrians to put into practice lessons learnt from the various public enlightenment programmes of the corps.
According to him, the enlightenment will not only help them to conduct themselves when driving, but also assist the corps in achieving its safe-motoring campaign.
