Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE announced on Wednesday that the first participants have been dosed in the US in the Phase 1/2 clinical trial for the BNT162 vaccine programme to prevent COVID-19.

The company said its net income surged to $12.27 billion or $2.02 per share in the fourth quarter, from $775 million or 13 cents per share a year earlier.
