Julie Owono, a digital rights advocate and Executive Director of Internet Sans Frontières from Cameroon; Maina Kiai, a human rights activist and Director of Human Rights Watch’s Global Alliances and Partnerships programme from Kenya; and Afia Asantewaa Asare-Kyei, a human rights lawyer and Programme Manager at the Open Society Initiative for West Africa from Senegal, Ghana and South Africa, have been appointed as Board Members to the newly created Oversight Board.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has urged “the governments of Lagos and Oyo states to “take immediate action to address the numerous ongoing human rights impacts of the deadly and catastrophic building collapse in their respective states, including by taking meaningful steps to avoid further damage to the human rights of the people affected.”
