Suntai’s deputy warns against security breach as governor is flown to Germany

Governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Suntai, has been flown to Germany for further treatment.
Suntai, who was involved in a plane crash on Thursday, was initially treated at the Specialist Hospital, Yola, Adamawa State, of Taraba.
He was relocated to the National Hospital, Abuja on Friday before he was flown to Germany in an air ambulance for further medical attention at about 3.05pm on Saturday.
This development was confirmed by Suntai’s Chief Press Secretary, Hassan Mijinyawa.
Mijinwa, who spoke with newsmen on Saturday in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, said the governor was responding well to treatment.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Garba Umar, had in the meantime called on the indigenes of the state to continue to pray for the quick recovery of Suntai and maintain the peace.
Umar, in a statement, said: “We are grateful to God Almighty that in spite of the impact of the crash, Governor Suntai and his three aides survived and are in a stable condition.
“I call on the good people of the state to pray for the speedy recovery of our dear governor and his affected aides.”
Umar also broached on the issue of the near breakdown of law and order in the state, following the initial report that Suntai was dead.
Report had it that some people in the state had vowed to prevent Umar from taking over as governor in the event that Suntai died.
They were said to have made an attempt on the life of Umar by attacking his residence.
Umar said in the statement: “While we thank God for his wonderful miracle, we remain committed to the protection of lives and property of our citizens.
“We will, therefore, view with grave concern any attempt to breach the peace and security of our state.”
