Skye Bank Plc is set to relaunch its Unstructured Supplementary Service Data banking solution, which enables customers and prospects to perform financial transactions on all known mobile phones (Feature, Smart lite or Smart) without internet or step into any of its banking halls nationwide.
This development, according to a release from the bank, was occasioned by mobility and sophistication of customers in this modern era.
The bank also said this was occasioned by the overriding influence of information and communication technology, banking solutions and services, which have taken a new dimension, especially with a view to achieving efficiency, speed, convenience and security in service delivery.
The bank’s Executive Director, Technology and Services, Innocent Ike, was said to have remarked: “The USSD is a Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication technology used to send texts between a mobile phone, and an application program in the owner network and the adoption of this technology allows people to do a lot of banking transactions even on the most basic of mobile phones.”
Ike noted that the spate of innovation lends credence to the vigorous evolution of alternate service channels designed to cater to the numerous needs of customers, developing products that fit their lifestyle and taste, every time and everywhere.
He added: “Today’s customers are able to conduct their transactions from their homes, offices and even on the road, courtesy of the new service channels which are not only efficient, but fast and secure. This is a radical departure from the old mortal and brick service environment which imposes great limitation on service scope and efficiency.”
The bank’s USSD Code *883# is a banking on the go solution which allows anyone with a mobile phone to do transactions such as buy airtime, transfer money, pay bills, check balance and even open an account, anytime and anywhere, that positions the bank for future growth as internet penetration continues to deepen in Africa and the use of mobile phones becomes the new and preferred banking channel.
The progress in internet banking, smart card banking and mobile banking has been revolutionary and breath-taking.
Customers now perform basic banking transactions like account balance request, transfers and online payments from the comfort of their homes thus complementing the effort of the Central Bank of Nigeria to build a cashless economy and enhance financial inclusion.
Skye Bank Plc, one of the leading banks in Nigeria and also a pioneer in electronic banking, embraced technology in service delivery at inception and has consistently applied it to delight its customers.
The bank provides convenient and innovative electronic banking products and services to drive customer satisfaction, business growth and seamless management of business processes.
It also ensures high level of security that protects customers.
The bank’s wide range of electronic channels and solutions –ATM, PoS, web, mobile and internet banking- are efficient, seamless and top rate.
