Sambo reiterates call for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians

The Vice President, Architect Mohammed Namadi Sambo, has implored all Nigerians to pray and contribute their quota for peace and development to continue to reign in the country.
Sambo made the call on Sunday in Abuja at the launch of a N1.5 billion appeal fund for the building of primary and secondary schools, staff quarters, Juma’at Mosque and conference hall at the FCT, Abuja, by the National Council of Jama’atul Izalatul Bidi’ah Wa’ikamatus-Sunnah.
He said “I am seizing this singular opportunity to call on all citizens of our dear nation to pray and contribute our quotas for peace and development of our country.”
Sambo, who commended JIBWIS and other related organisations for their efforts in promoting and complementing government’s efforts in education and entrenching peaceful co-existence amongst Nigerians, also assured them of government’s continuous support in meeting their noble objectives.
“I would like to assure you that government will continue to partner with you, and pray to Almighty Allah that these lofty programmes shall meet with speedy implementation and that the aims for which these programmes were set shall meet to its noble objectives and complement government efforts in this direction,” he stated.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar III, and other speakers at the event all stressed the importance of education to the development of the society.
They also urged the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for the peace, unity and development of the country.
In his remarks, the National Chairman Ulama’u Council of JIBWIS, Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, stated that the organisation promotes the teaching of Islam and the importance of living in a peaceful and tranquil society.
Jingir stated that monies that would be realised from the event would be channelled towards the building of primary and secondary schools, staff quarters, Juma’at Mosque and conference hall at the FCT Abuja.
Sheikh Jingir, who dismissed the insinuation that Muslims were “Boko Haram”, said JIBWIS embarked on the establishment of schools across the country to promote both Islamic and Western education.
He noted that currently JIBWIS has 283 schools, made up of primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, spread across the country with a 51,301 student population.
Present at the occasion were the Governors of Sokoto and Kaduna States, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamako and Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.
Also present were Royal Fathers, Islamic scholars and other notable dignitaries, amongst several Muslim faithfuls.
