The Plateau State office of the Department of Petroleum Resources has appealed to members of the public, the police and the media to collaborate and report to it any filling station that sells above the government-fixed prices for petroleum products such as petrol and kerosene.
The Department said it has recorded greater achievements in the enforcement of the Federal Government’s rules that “no marketer should sell above government regulated price of N87 per litre for petrol and N50 per litre for kerosene.”
The new Controller of Operations of the DPR in Plateau State, C.B. Douglas, who disclosed this in an interview with journalists, said the Department is also ensuring that products are available in a large quantity and quality.
Stressing that the desire of the Department is to ensure that every marketer operates according to the rules, Douglas said it would be helpful if other stakeholders in the state collaborate and report defaulters to the DPR.
He said anyone wishing to report a defaulter could call the Controller Operations on 08033112432, 08056696568, Operations Manager on 08113952130, DMR on 08039686814 and Chief Chemist on 08025740162.
Douglas said recently, the Department mobilized its staffers and went round the metropolis to checkmate the activities of racketeers towards ensuring that marketers do not cheat on the unsuspecting customers.
He said during the raid, any marketer that was caught racketeering was punished and also forced to revert to the government price.
They were also sanctioned and made to pay a fine of N100,000.
