The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, and a former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, were denied access to the VIP Section at the Vatican in Rome during the inauguration and first Mass of newly-appointed Pope Leo XIV.

This came to the fore hours after Seyi, son of President Bola Tinubu, was stopped by security men from having a handshake with the Pope.

The inauguration of Pope Leo XIV took place on Sunday with several world leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, in attendance.

In a viral video, Obi and Fayemi, who both hold the titles of the Papal Knight of the Order of St. Sylvester in the Catholic Church, were seen led to the VIP Section by Nigeria’s Cardinal Francis Arinze.

However, they were directed to use another entrance by one of the security men at the entrance.

Cardinal Arinze was seen speaking with the security man.

He, however, insisted they should use another entrance.

In an earlier video, Seyi Tinubu was turned back from having a handshake with the Pope.

This was after his father did.

As he made to follow suit, the security men at the scene steered him away from the route.
