Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim, the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Movement, on Wednesday said the PDM ceased to exist as a movement following its registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission as a political party.
Ibrahim told the News Agency of Nigeria: “”PDM ceases to be a movement as claimed by some politicians.
“It has transformed into a political party.”
Ibrahim said the decision to register PDM as a political party was taken by members of the movement.
He said: “Look at our trajectory from 1994 to date.
“Our plan has been implemented step by step until the movement is transformed to a political party.
“It is time for the members of the movement to watch their languages as we all agreed to break from the past and transform into a political party.”
He,however, said that the party still stood to its objective of being a bridge linking the northern and southern parts of Nigeria.
Ibrahim said although there were deviations from PDM’s principle, the party would regain the original values of the movement.
He said the PDM would unify the people and bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.
