NULGE wants FG to approve LG autonomy

The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees on Wednesday called on the Federal Government to approve local government autonomy.
The NULGE National Vice-President for the South-East, Eze Idima, made the call after he inaugurated the newly elected executives of the union in Owerri, Imo State.
Idima also solicited the support of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the struggle for local government autonomy in Nigeria, adding that the autonomy would further deepen democracy in the country.
He advised the new executive members to exhibit the spirit of commitment and ensure improvement in the welfare of members.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the union in the state, Chief Ambrose Onuoha, thanked members for finding him worthy to pilot the affairs of the union in the next four years.
Onuoha, who promised that the welfare of members would be his priority, solicited their support for the execution and completion of developmental projects of NULGE.
He thanked the Imo State leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, led by Reginald Anyadike, for the support to union and assured them that the NULGE would continue to support the programmes of the congress.
Anyadike advised the new NULGE executive to justify the confidence reposed in them through transparent leadership.
