Giwa FC of Jos says it will appeal the decision of the Nigeria Football Association’s Organising and Disciplinary Committee, which ordered a replay of its match against Nember City of Brass.
The Proprietor of the club, Chris Giwa, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria on telephone on Wednesday in Abuja.
Giwa said that he would appeal the decision once the outcome of the meeting was communicated to him.
He said: “I have not got the decision.
“They have not communicated to us but if that is their decision, we will certainly appeal against it.”
NAN recalls that match officials in the Week 18 fixture in Jos had awarded three points and three goals to Giwa FC following the absence of Nembe City.
The bus conveying the Nembe team to Jos for the game broke down in Enugu and made it difficult for the club to honour the match.
Following the development, the committee on Tuesday upturned the decision of the match officials.
The officials had awarded the maximum three points to Giwa against Nembe.
The committee, however, directed the League Management Company to organise the league match as other matches.
Meanwhile, Victor Baribote, the Proprietor of Nembe City, has applauded the committee’s decision.
Baribote noted that the decision would restore the fate stakeholders had in the league.
Baribote, who also spoke with NAN on telephone, said that he had relied on the relevant articles for justice.
He said: “We relied on the articles which said a match should be postponed for 24 hours once there is a vehicle breakdown.
“And an official of the club arrives at the match venue before the start of the game.
“It also said that where the club fails to come after 24 hours, you can only fine such a club N2 million and the game replayed.
“There is nothing like walk-over in Nigerian football.”
Baribote noted that it was surprising to hear that the team was walked-over after the Media Officer of the team attended the pre-match meeting in Jos and signed the pre-match form.
Baribote said the club’s official also informed the match officials about the team’s predicament and gave them time to arrive in spite of the breakdown.
