The management of Apa United of Otukpo, Benue State has raised the alarm that the Nigeria Football Federation is out to thwart the good gesture of its sponsor by denying them their hard earned promotion to the National League.
The team’s coordinator, Abel Oyillo, lamented that after the Organising and Disciplinary had awarded them points in their disputed match with Bida Lions, the NFF is trying to stop them from playing in the National League after they had completed registration formalities.
Oyillo said: “It is sad that the NFF is trying to dump the report of its O&D.
“This case is not new and the committee had ruled in our favour but because of selfish interest, some people in the NFF want the decision reversed.
“This is development is enough for our sponsor to lose interest because he decided to identify with the team to empower the youths and discourage them from social vices.
“This same Bida Lions have no intention of playing in the league but to sell off the slot and the NFF is encouraging this kind of anomaly.
“Already, the fixtures have been drawn and we were preparing for the game against Gateway.
“All of a sudden, a directive came that the match has been put on hold.”
