N950m from Diezani’s $115m was shared in my house, but I didn’t see it – Shekarau

A for‎mer Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, on Tuesday admitted that N950 million from the $115 million allegedly given to chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission was shared in his residence.
Shekarau, however, said he was upstairs in his room when the sharing was done and so never set his eyes on the money.
The N950 million was allegedly given to a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Bashir Wali.
Shekarau said it was Wali who begged him for the N950 million to be shared in residence after raising security concerns.
Shekarau, who spoke through his media aide, Malam Ghali Sadiq, said he did not see the money in question when it was brought to his residence.
He said: “Wali approached me on the day he collected the money and said because of security he wanted to share the N950m in my residence and I obliged.
“He brought the money to my house around 2am.
“I was at my room upstairs when they came in and I remained there up till the time they finished the sharing.
“Wali and some other party members shared the money according to the directives given to them.
“So I did not even see the money with my eyes.”
The former Governor of Kano State also confirmed the receipt of an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Shekarau said as a witness, he will go to the commission and narrate all he knows about the money.
