Wanted-away Nigerian international, John Obi Mikel, has been linked with a transfer move to SS Lazio of Italy ahead of the ahead of the Serie A league season.
The Italian-outfit believes Mikel possesses the qualities to fill in the void that was created by some of their players that left the club before and after the World Cup.
They also are targeting two other defenders to beef up their squad for the new season.
The 27-year-old Nigerian midfielder has reportedly been offered to a variety of clubs as Blues boss, Jose Mourinho, looks to make way for new recruits.
Reports in Italy claim he has been offered to a number of Serie A teams, including Inter Milan, for around £10 million.
However, Mikel is clearly becoming less valued at Stamford Bridge, having made just 11 starting appearances for Chelsea as they came third in the Premier League last season.
The addition of Fabregas to a central midfield, which already includes the likes of Nemanja Matic, Willian and Ramires, will likely only decrease Mikel’s playing time further.
Should the Lazio move sail through, Mikel will join up with his national team mate, Ogenyi Onazi, at the club.
