With the final of the 2015/2016 Lagos State FA Cup coming up on Sunday, the sponsor, Winners Golden Bet, has raised the bar with cash awards for the most valuable player of the championship and other individuals.
In a statement by the Lagos FA, the highest goal scorer award of the tournament will go home with N100,000.
The best goalkeeper will also go home with N50,000, while the referee of the tournament goes home with N100,000, with the best coach of the championship being sponsored to a coaching course.
According to Deji Breecoft, the Assistant General Manager of the sponsoring company, WGB, the company decided to give the cash awards in order to encourage the player’s and other stakeholders like the referees’ and coaches to always give their best.
Breecoft revealed that the eventual winner for the Men category will go home with N1 million and the runner up will get N500,000.
Women champions will get N300,000 and the runners up goes home with N200,000 apart from other individuals’ awards for women too.
Meanwhile all the semi-finals matches will hold on Friday at Agege Stadium, starting from 8am, with the women taking the stage when the defending champions, C.O.D Ladies FC, confront Young Talent 99 FC, after which FC Robo Queens will play against Iche T.T Queens football club for a place in the finals.
In the men category, Premier league side, MFM FC, will tackle Synergy Ultimate FC and C.O.D FC will battle Bridge football club for a spot in Sunday’s final holding at the same venue.
Dotun Coker, the Chairman of the Technical committee of the Lagos FA, noted that the standard of this year’s edition of the WGB powered Lagos FA Cup is very high, expressing satisfaction with the level displayed by the clubs.
Coker informed that this year’s Lagos State FA Cup has been a huge success, hoping that any club that win’s should be able to be a worthily representative.
