Ladoja behind Oyo political crisis – ACN

The Action Congress of Nigeria, Oyo State chapter, has said that a former Governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, was merely seeking to drag the present government in the state into an era of violence, so as to make the world draw a comparison between his government and the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration.
In a statement in Ibadan by the Chairman of the ACN, Chief Akin Oke, the party said that Ladoja had failed woefully in this bid.
According to Oke, in the last two years of Ajimobi’s administration, the ACN-led government had shown the whole world that it was making a break from the political violence and intolerance of the Ladoja/former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala era, stating that the party was not about to change this gentleman approach to governance.
The statement said: “Ladoja should look further from us for the violence that was said to have been visited on his party on Thursday. During the time of Alhaji Lam Adesina, Oyo State knew peace and tranquility. By the time Ladoja came into office, he fouled the whole place up. His intolerance for the other person jammed the intolerance of (late Alhaji Lamidi) Adedibu and but for God, this state would have been swallowed up in a conflagration. It is that politics that he has sought to re-introduce by making the whole world think we are like him.”
The ACN urged the police to look at the identity of the supposed thugs who invaded Ladoja’s campaign ground, stating that they would find out that they were splinters of the Peoples democratic Party PDP and Accord Party faithful who had been ran underground by the Ajimobi government.
The statement added: “Governor Ajimobi is a gentleman to the core. He has consistently demonstrated this, first by bringing Accord Party and PDP faithful into his government and second, by refusing to tread the ruinous path of violence and bloodshed that were the hallmark of Ladoja and Akala’s government. Ladoja knows that the only way he can win the lost hearts of the people is to tell the world that the violence of his government can also be found in Ajimobi’s government. This is why he is prosecuting this attempt to drag us into the PDP/Accord Party clash at his campaign venue.”
While stating that it was because Ajimobi disengaged Accord Party faithful from his government that there is a resurgence of the violence that Ladoja and his group were known for, Oke warned Ladoja not to return Oyo State to the era of violence of the PDP, maintaining that the people, who had tasted the peace of the last two years, would resist it.
Oke added: “It is shameful that Ladoja does not play straight politics. In the advertorial he placed in the Tribune, where is ACN imprimatur in it? He is a master of deception. We learnt that he and Akala met in London. We would not be surprised that their plan is to combine to cause chaos and make Oyo ungovernable for our government.”
